Don't Forget: |
The Official opening of the Exhibition was on Saturday 9th January 2010 The presentation of awards followed by the premier showing of Projected images took place at 2.30pm at Eastwood Comprehensive School Hall, also on Mansfield Road. Prints will be on display for four weeks at Durban House from Saturday 9th January until Friday 5th February 2010. Opening times (May be subject to change): INTRODUCTION Welcome to the 55th Annual Exhibition of the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation. This year we had the highest number of both authors and entries for the twenty years I have been Exhibition Secretary, in excess of 2800 images from 330 authors. We never seem to have enough space to exhibit as many as we would like, but we do our best, both in our selection and display. Congratulations to Bakewell Photographic Circle on again winning the Hiscox Trophy for Monochrome Prints, Rolls-Royce (Derby) Photographic Society seminally winning the Chesterfield Trophy for Colour Prints and Nottingham & Notts Photographic Society the Derwent Trophy for slides. We have selected five Individual print panels. The winner of the Bolsover trophy for the Best Monochrome print is Gary Langley, Arnold and District Camera Club and best colour print went to Jim Edmondson, Bakewell Photographic Circle. Best Natural History print goes to John Smith, Warsop & District Camera Club. The best Projected image award is for the first time awarded jointly to Dave Barraclough, Rolls-Royce (Derby) Photographic Society and Paul Exton, Nottingham & Notts Photographic Society. Congratulations to all other award winners, everyone who gained acceptances and thank you everyone for entering. Thanks go to all our selectors for their hard work and dedication, both long days going smoothly. I also thank all helpers during selection and behind the scene workers, all contributing time and effort to this Exhibition. I must especially thank Peter and Carol Cheetham for so much effort over the years, Dave Severn for handling the digital side along with my own club colleagues Derek and Iris Martin and David Gibbins for proof reading. I must also thank the ‘Eastwood team’ who help hang the prints. The Show sent to all clubs is as professional as ever, thanks to Jim Hartje and Ashley Franklin. I hope the pictures selected for this Exhibition please you and that you tell your friends and encourage them to visit the Exhibition, view the projected images show and have a look at the Federation website www.nempf.org. Once again a Colour Catalogue has been produced, supported by our advertisers and sponsors. At Durban House a limited number of copies of this Catalogue will be available. Each year costs increase and every purchase helps the Federation. This year thirty-eight clubs entered the exhibition, although it is still my ambition that every club would submit work for consideration. However, all clubs will get a copy of the show which does include some of the award winning prints. Comments can be emailed following your club showing, detail on our website. I again appeal to members in the few clubs who did not enter, and continued support from you all for our next Annual Exhibition in 2011. Closing date will be late October and Rules and entry forms will be issued during September 2010 which gives plenty of time for everyone in all clubs affiliated to the Federation to enter. To have all clubs represented would be great, wishful thinking! Eric Miller, APAGB, Exhibition Secretary
